“You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13 (NIV)
An excerpt from Glenn Beck’s book “Being George Washington”
To the French Minister (1796)
Born, sir, in land of liberty, having early learned its value, having engaged in a perilous conflict to defend it, having, in a word, devoted the best years of my life to secure its permanent establishment in my own country, my anxious recollections, my sympathetic feelings, and my best wishes are irresistibly excited wheresoever, in any country, I see an oppressed nation unfurl the banners of freedom.
Our founding fathers fought for freedom in our nation. Freedom from tyranny, freedom from oppression, freedom to freely worship God, and freedom to freely go out into this world and fulfill the purpose that God has set for each and every one of us. But, when we don’t have those freedoms, we are held back from fulfilling those purposes.
Right now, our nation is in peril. We are on the edge of becoming a nation of oppressed peoples without the right to live out our freedoms; to be a beacon of light to the world for Jesus. The progressives of this nation has been systematically breaking down our Christian nation, dividing the people and stifling our liberties, specifically the choice to freely worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, through Jesus Christ.
We have the right, and it is our duty to restore America to its greatness. But first, we have to start at the beginning. The beginning (and the end) is always with God. He’s the Alpha and the Omega. How do we start at the beginning again? Prayer. Our prayers, through Jesus go right to the Father. When we earnestly pray for our leaders, pray for salvation for the lost, and pray for and help the fatherless, the poor, the widows, the orphans and the oppressed, we see action. Action from a loving God that wants none to perish, including America. My challenge is for all that read this to recite this prayer.
Father in heaven, this nation is yours. All we have and ever will have is yours. We lift up all of our leaders to you (political, business leaders, Christian leaders and the spiritual leaders in each home), we pray that we will be a nation again that puts God first. We pray for your blessings to be poured out on America again. Give us all wisdom like you gave Solomon, give us all hearts like David, not for our glory but for your glory Lord. May people see you working through us and praise your name. Help us to use our time, talents and treasure to help your children across this world. Help America to turn back to be the nation that fulfills the great commission in Matthew 28:19. May you receive all the praise and glory Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
