Titus 2:11-14 ” For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say No to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope – the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”
There are a lot of people in this great country that are being fooled. Not an April fool’s joke, but fooled into thinking that just because they were born in America, and believe in God that we have a birthright in heaven. Just that type of thought process makes Americans hypocrites in the eyes of the world.
We claim to be a Christian nation, contrary to what our president has said publicly. But, by our fruits as a nation, can we really make that claim? Don’t get me wrong, I believe that there a thousands, hopefully millions of Americans that are true followers of Jesus, but on the other hand, as a nation where do we really stand? Let’s look at where our nation has gone and the road we are on now.
Abortion – since 1973, America has allowed abortion, the murder of innocent children to occur. It is illegal by our constitution; and our government and politicians washed their hands of it all by allowing it to happen, Roe Vs. Wade was a Supreme Court decision, not a law made by the legislative branch. As a Christian nation, we should have stood up and said it is wrong, God has told us it is wrong, specifically in Psalm 94: 20-23; we are condemning the innocent to death and that is wrong.
Look at what we allow in our nation for entertainment. Yes, I believe in the constitution and the right to make choices, but our nation has gone rampant with pornography, alcohol, tobacco, perverted television, and people in the news media that don’t seek the truth, but seek ratings, money and personal agendas.
Heroes – once upon a time, we looked up to Jesus. We also looked up to servants like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, soldiers, as well as our parents, grandparents, friends and even teachers as great examples for our children to follow. Now, when America has a great role model like Tim Tebow to look up to, what does America do? Persecute him for his beliefs. If you are famous, but a Christian, look out, you are the enemy. But if you become a drug addicted, womanizing, narcissistic, criminal thug, the media lifts you up like you are a great person.
Schools – most of our original colleges were founded as seminaries to train young men to become Pastors. We started our school systems to teach children how to read the Bible. God has been kicked out of school; we can’t teach Christian principles, pray in school or mention God now. It’s okay to teach Islam, to pray to Buddha, or sacred cows, or worship nature. The world views us as a people that claim to be Christians, but don’t allow the Christian God to be in our schools.
Those examples are just some of the evidence that our nation as a whole has become known as a nation of hypocrites. We allow all of these things, and they go against the teachings of the Christian God – The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the Father of Jesus. Christians in this nation so far have been part of the problem too. We have not stood up for our God the way we should.. We need to voice our beliefs more to everyone. We need to vote out politicians that support agendas that are anti-Christian. We need to take our nation back, dedicate it back to God, and get back on the right track. This nation has a role, and our role is to spread the gospel of Jesus. How can we do that if we are hypocrites? It’s time to repent, ask for forgiveness as a nation and return to our roots.
Father God, forgive our nation of our sins. Wash us clean with the blood that Jesus shed for all of us. Help us to accept that grace you gave us and help us to return to being a true Christian nation, that spreads the gospel to all of the world.
In Jesus name,
