Spend Friday,July 20, 2012 Tweeting on Your Knees for America. We are asking you commit your tweets to joining Prayers4America as we seek God’s face in repentant prayer on behalf of our nation. In fact, this tweet on our knees in prayer for our nation is based on God’s original call in 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Our Founding Fathers were men of great faith, as shown in early American writings. One such document is the Proclamation of the National Day of Humiliation, Fasting, and Prayer of the Second Continental Congress of June 12, 1775, setting aside July 20, 1775 for such a day. This Proclamation was issued shortly after the Battles of Lexington and Concord, when the War of American Independence had just begun. This was the first National Day of Prayer.
