1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (NIV)
13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. 14 Do everything in love.
God has tasked men to be the spiritual leaders at home. We are to lead our families, especially our children. It’s not an easy task, but a worthwhile task. When one looks at this verse, it’s actually great instructions for us throughout our lives. We must constantly be on guard; evil in this world is at the door all the time. Standing firm in our faith, in other words, allow God to keep our faith tank full, and don’t hesitate to use it. The last tasks, be courageous, strong and do it in love.
For all us, we can take our courage out into this world, both men and women. Where and when should we be courageous?
- At work
- When telling God’s truth
- When proclaiming the gospel
- When acknowledging Jesus as your Savior
- When fighting evil
- When standing up for the innocent
- When helping the poor
- When helping the widows and orphans
- When we are persecuted
- When it’s time to die
- Where ever God leads you, takes you and plants you
God, my Father in heaven. Help me to be courageous everywhere I go, with everyone I see and with all that I come in contact with. Help me to stand firm in the faith you give me, help me to be on guard all the time and give me the strength to achieve your will in my life.
