Christians unanimously agree that believers go through trying difficult times. Hard trials will inevitably come to each and every one. According to Peter; this should not come as a surprise to us. Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that , when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy (1 Peter 4:12,13). That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:7).
Those living in Peter’s day would relate to his analogy more than it might for us. They placed gold into huge furnaces subjecting the gold to extremely high temperatures to liquefy it. The smelter would stir the molten gold until all the impurities were gone. It took heat to make it pure. The process was complete when the smelter could see his own reflection in the liquid gold. Jesus looks for the reflection of Himself in the gold of our faith as it is purified by fiery trials.
Your trial of faith may be so hot that you feel totally overwhelmed by the intensity of it. You believe it will burn you up and consume you. What about being put into a literal fire! In the book of Daniel 3:8-25 this happened. Three Jewish men were forced into a fiery furnace because they refused to bow to an image of King Nebuchadnezzar. The fire was seven times hotter than normal because of Nebuchadnezzar’s wrath toward them. They had told the king God would deliver them whether through death or deliverance. Their audacious faith enraged the king beyond measure!
Satan will come and try to convince us that God is angry with us. This is a lie. Satan is a liar and the father of it (John 8:44). A few years ago, I told my little granddaughter not to touch an iron skillet being used because it was hot. She did it anyway burning her hand. I did not punish her. She learned an invaluable lesson by this terrible unforgettable experience. The repercussions of sin itself teaches us most convincingly. When we see our children doing well we challenge and exhort them to do even better. That is exactly what the heavenly Father does with us. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing (James 1:2-4).
We can learn from the story of the three Hebrew men thrown into the fiery furnace. Nebuchadnezzar was scratching his head wondering why he witnessed four men walking around in the fire. Jesus tells us, “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5)”. Did I not throw three men into the fire! What is this? What is going on? There are four men loosed walking in the midst of the fire. The form of the fourth is like the Son of God. How amazed and astonished he must have been! Nebuchadnezzar yelled out to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego…servants of the most high God come out of the furnace! They came out without their bodies being burned, without singed hair, without garments changed, nor the smell of fire on them! Praise God! God delivers those who trust in Him!
King Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God (Daniel 3:28). He had witnessed the power of God, the presence of God, and the sovereignty of God over earthly kings. God made a believer out of him! He changed his mind and his decree instantly! Yes…he did! Any nation or any people who speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort. Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon (Daniel 3: 29-30). Hallelujah! There is no other God that can deliver after this sort!
We in America need to cry out to God in the dire times we find ourselves in! Americans need to turn away from unrighteousness and turn away from the path we are on. We have to come to Jesus! We need to ask Him to forgive us our sins, be our Sovereign God, and deliver us from all our enemies. America…we are in a fiery furnace and we need the Lord God of heaven to come into this fire with us, keep us safe, and deliver us out with His mighty hand of deliverance!
Dear Heavenly Father in Jesus name send your angel to America. May Americans turn to You in faith believing putting their trust only in You. I know if they do, You will deliver us. Forgive this nation our trespasses and take our pride, rebellion, backsliding condition, and change all that we have decreed against You. May we be willing to give up and surrender our lives unto You as the Hebrew children in order to be true to You. There is no other God that can deliver after this sort. Only You my Lord and my God can deliver those who trust in You. God save America. God bless America. Turn the heart’s of this nation back to You. In your holy name….~~Amen~~
