~~~The Biblical Christmas Story~~~ (Luke 2)
Christmas is quickly approaching. There will be family traditions kept, family visits, gifts of love exchanged, and a time of sharing goodwill toward mankind. Many become overwhelmed, stressed, and perplexed with all the hustle bustle. They are pressed beyond measure worrying about meeting expectations of others. There will be people depressed at their lack of ability, means, or ways to please others. This is supposed to be a time of good cheer, good tidings, and great joy but due to the commercialization of Christmas, it has become a source of dread, gloom, and despair. For those who cannot fulfill the expected desires of loved ones, it causes much pain, woe, misery, and sadness. Christmas is meant to be a joyful time as when the angels sang, “Peace on Earth good will to men”! It is a time to share the greatest ‘Gift’ to all mankind. We are to share the glorious birth of our Lord and Saviour…Jesus Christ! He was born for us, lived for us, died for us, rose from the dead for us, and is coming again for all his children! Jesus did all this for the glory of his Father so we may be reconciled unto him. Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth goodwill to men! Glory to the newborn King!
It is my prayer this Christmas, we in America and all over the world will celebrate Christmas as the shepherds, wise men, angels, and heaven did on the night Jesus was born. It was a glorious night where God and sinners were reconciled. It was a call from heaven proclaiming, “Joyful all ye nations rise, join the triumph of the skies; with angelic hosts proclaim, Christ is born in Bethlehem”. Glory to the newborn King! The highest heaven adored Christ Jesus. They hailed the ‘Son of Righteousness’. They glorified the ‘Giver of Life’ and the ‘Light of the World’. They adored the’ Prince of Peace’ risen with healing in His wings. He was born that man no more may die. He was born to raise the sons of earth. He was born to give them second birth. He is the second Adam from above and came to reinstate us in his love. Glory to the newborn King!
If we allow the eyes of our heart to be opened, we can still hear the music of the angels resounding over all the weary world. Those who are heavy laden and bending low with painful steps and moving slow have a place to rest. They can rest beside the weary road, and hear the angels sing. Be still and listen to their words. “Our hopes and fears are still met in God the King”! In this world of sin, precious souls are still receiving him as Lord and Saviour, “O holy child of Bethlehem”. When we accept Christ the Saviour, all is calm and all is bright. Darkness fleas and the light of his glory permeates our very being. Joy to the world…the Lord now lives in our hearts! He rules the world with truth and grace, and makes the nations prove..the glories of his righteousness and wonders of his love. Let heaven and earth sing together as we remember Christ our Saviour was born to cast away our sin that we should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Glory to the newborn King!
Prayer and supplication for this Christmas…
Dear Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus…Let heaven touch earth once again with the message of the first Christmas. The night your angels told the shepherds to fear not: for, behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Let the first Christmas message resonate around the world bringing comfort, good cheer, joy, love, hope, peace, charity, and kindness for all mankind. Send us a fresh visitation from heaven Lord God Almighty that will draw precious souls unto you. O, Lord cast out our sin and enter in..be born in us today. Dear God, impart to human hearts, your blessings from heaven. May we hear the Christmas angels with great tidings tell…O, come to us, abide with us, Our Lord Emmanuel. We offer up our worship, praise, love, and exaltation for the gift of thy precious Son. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Dear God, please have mercy on us for we have sinned by our rebellion, disobedience, unfaithfulness, idolatry, and pride. Forgive us our trespasses. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debt as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever and ever. O, gracious Father, I humbly pray, grant this petition in your holy name. ~~~Amen~~~
Glory to the newborn King! Hallelujah!
